7 Quick Actions to Take After You Publish a New Blog Post

Do you really know what you need to do after you hit the publish button?

Huh?

Do you just publish your articles and think you are done?

Hell No! blog post actions

Publishing a blog post is just a minute aspect of the whole thing. There are a lot of things that is needed to be done after your blog post goes live. But it is unfortunate that a lot of bloggers don’t do the necessary things.

Some publish and waits for miracles to happen, it won’t happen. Don’t feel bad, I was also once like that. I did that a lot with my first blog; I have a lot of great content on that blog but I was just publishing and waiting for traffic to come.

After my last post on 21 questions you need to ask yourself before you publish a post, I thought it over, then I decided to share with you what you need to do after you publish a post.

Fine, you just published a great post. Perhaps this is the post that will drive thousands of readers to your site.

But how do make sure this post does what it is given birth to do? This is exactly what this post will help you learn.

Well, you may have a superb content rotting on your blog because when no one benefits from it by reading, then it is just as bad as you not writing it at all.

[share]Blog Posts hardly go viral on their own; you need to give them a push to make them go viral.[/share]

The smart bloggers understand this and that is why they are at the top! But don’t panic, because you can still catch up with them and that is why I and BTT are here!

Here are quick actions to take after you hit the publish button on your post.

Action 1: Share Your Blog Posts on Social Networks

The first place to make your post known as soon as you publish it is on the social networking sites. Social networks are good at helping you spread information about your new blog posts considering the number of users on them.

I doubt if there is a blogger out there without a couple of social media accounts especially a Facebook Page and Twitter Handle. These 2 places should be your first stop at promoting your new blog posts.

Sites like Facebook, Google plus and Twitter are very good networks, so utilize and spread the word about your new post circulate quickly. You may not have to do this manually; there are a bunch of tools out there that can automatically post to social networks for you.

Action 2: Tell other bloggers about it

This may seem to be a hard thing to want to do but it really helps a lot when you tell other bloggers about your new post and ask them to link out to it from their blogs. Some of them might just do this but you won’t get this all the time as many may decline.

Telling other bloggers about your new posts is a smart marketing strategy, I used to know a blogger that did that a lot when he was starting out and it really did help him.

I am not saying you should spam fellow bloggers, what am saying is that you should tell your blogging pals and tribe about your new blog posts and if any other bloggers were mentioned in your article, make sure you let them know about it.

The main advantage of this is that if a blog of higher authority should link to your new blog post and the post you have just written is of good content, then you should expect loads of traffic to your blog the coming days.

Action 3: Tell Your Subscribers about Your Blog Posts

subscribers

I hardly use to do this, but a few months back, I discovered I was actually underutilizing my resources and subscribers list by not sending them regular newsletter and mails about new helpful articles on this blog.

What is the essence of having subscribers? Huh?

They didn’t sign up for fun, they signed up because they want to learn from you and know what you are up to. So, stop neglecting them and also underutilizing your assets.

Mailing your subscribers about your new blog posts is sure ways of letting your readers know that you have a new post on your blog. Don’t forget to include a solid reason in your newsletter why they need to read the new post.

Action 4: Spread theWord about your New Blog Post in a forum

If you are an active member in any forum, well I will also recommend you spread the word about your new blog post in these forums. Forums are great places to make your post known and get more traffic to your blog.

Try not being a spammer, because most forums are against indiscriminate dropping of links but as I said in my first paragraph if you are an ACTIVE MEMBER, they won’t have any problem with you.

Action 5: Link it to the new post from an old post in your blog

Another way of making your post known is by linking to it within your blog from another related post. This makes your readers continue to have more interest in your post and increases the number of page views.

The moment you hit the publish button of you new blog post, grab the new post URL and take some time to find old related articles and link to the new article from it. This will not just send traffic to the new blog post, but it will also

This will not just send traffic to the new blog post, but it will also pass down link juice to your new article.

Action 6: Social Bookmarking of Your New Blog Posts

social bookmarks

Social bookmarking sites are not just great for getting backlinks to your blog, but they are also a good source of traffic.  submitting your new blog posts to bookmarking sites like Reddit, Stumble Upon, Digg can bring you tons of traffic the coming the days if the post gets popular on these sites.

Action 7: Ask for Help

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness; we all need to rely on people at some point or the other.

Your friends can help you spread the word about your post better than how you can do. Words of mouth and recommendations are very strong in making people know about something. Your friends can do this for you but they may not get to do it if you don’t ask.
